EXTOL Secure - How to test your AS2 connection

19th April 2013

Testing an AS2 connection can be quite simple. We use the Telnet Command to test connectivity with Firewalls, Proxy Servers, and EXTOL Secure.

From a command line ( Windows/iSeries/Linux)

Scenario:

1. Unable to send to AS2 server from Behind Firewall

  • Telnet <firewall address> <port number>
  • ie. 192.168.1.1 4080

2. Unable to send data via AS2 Proxy server

  • Telnet <proxy server address> <port number>
  • ie. 192.168.1.1 5080

Result:

If a successful connection is made, the telnet screen should go “black” or “clear” and data prompts should disappear. This connection should also register in the AS2 server log.
